Chaos Pendel

I wanted to give the yellow arm more movement so I tested many
gear combinations. I didn't photograph all of them. The original ride
has motors for the yellow arm, too.

The idea of chaos pendel is irregular movement. That is why I
didn't make the gears turn all the time but every now and then give
a little boost. There is a big black 36-teeth solid gear between the
lime arm and the white part. The axle of the lime arm is not in the
middle of the black gear. It goes through the round hole that is beside the
middle hole. When the lime arm makes one round, that black gear touches
the the first gear in a row only a short while and makes the yellow arm
spin. It's the same idea as in my Top spin 2. It gives only a boost to
the yellow arm and lefts it spin freely.

This was the theory. In the real life the row of gears that turn with
the yellow arm causes too much friction and stops the arm from spinning.

Another idea was to make the yellow arm spin, then stop and then spin
again. Here is the construction for that. Unfortunately I forgot the ratios
of the gears so in this system there is two points where a bigger gear turn
a smaller one and increases the speed. When the yellow arm started spinning,
it was so fast that it broke the whole ride.

These gear additions didn't make the ride work better so I took them off.

I found these pictures in the net. If they are yours and you
don't want them to be here just e-mail me and I'll take them away.
